| The Heretical Maidens are five sisters who promised their father on his deathbed that they would become excellent evil- something neither he nor their mother was able to do while they were henchmen in evil organizations. They received magical powers from a little demon in an urn who's always egging them on to mischief, but they always screw up and do good instead- usually because one of them isn't completely in favor of the evil deed of the day. The demon's catchphrase: "When the hell you going to do something evil?!".
Absolute Justice Love Pheromone is about an amateur female comedy pair (manzai) that's trying to get noticed- but they really suck. They're secretly members of some kind of Galactic Police force, and can summon giant mecha and transform into their semi-cutesy hardsuits. Their team name for this is also Love Pheromone, since they joined solely to promote name recognition of their comedy act. Their catchphrase is "Anything can be done in the name of justice!", and they care little for the property damage they cause- which is considerable. Half the time it's because Aimi's set off by someone mocking her small bust size or they feel cheated out of something they thought was worth more than it was- they never seem to chase criminals all that much, and are eventually declared a menace to the city. Most of the episodes have 12-minute mini-stories for both series, but this is occasionally changed to devote the full time to one or the other. Both shows take place in the same city at the same time, and characters from one will appear in the other from time to time early on (Kaoruko is coworker with Otone), and we occasionally observe the same event from the perspective of both groups, usually with a cameo by the 2nd group. The last 2 episodes are about the invasion of the Earth by the Death Ant Empire, and both groups get roughly equal time throughout with no splitting of the episode. The funniest episodes are usually the ones that have a character's naive fantasies about the nobility of anime being crushed when they see it's just a product to be sold, or whenever the Fourth Wall is broken (like two characters meeting their seiyuu in the hall of a studio.) |
