Bishie good-guy vampire Natsuhiko Shido runs a detective agency that fronts for his work hunting down 'Nightbreeds', evil spirits that try to enter into the world of the living by possessing humans. He's helped by his sultry off-and-on partner/blood bank Yayoi, his bubbly, vacuous, love-struck secretary Riho, and his cute little nekkid Morrigan-like familiar/fairy Guni. The first few episodes have his sinister sire Cain coming back to bring about something called the "Golden Dawn", which involves crossbreeding Nightbreeds and humans- but the storyline is dropped with no real resolution. Everything else is completely episodic and forgettable, except perhaps the poignant flashback "Someone Else's Face" and the final episode "Eternal Darkness" (the resolution of this ep pissed me off). I got this 12-episode (dub only) series from TRSI in a clearance sale for $4, so from a monetary POV it's a bargain. My value/time ratio is quite a bit lower. |
