The Earth has a defense system against large meteorites that are in collision course to it. This protection system has the Comet Blasters based in space stations as a 1st line of defense, using nuclear warheads lauched by spaceships. The 2nd line of defense are the Meteor Swepers based on ground airbases using hipersonic planes with special missiles to deal with the resulting debris from the 1st blasts. Mikaze is a troubled girl that is a trainee pilot for Meteor Sweper team that dreams to become a prestigious Comet Blaster pilot. | In the future, the Earth is in constant danger from comet bombardment, and two fleets are charged with keeping the planet safe. The Comet Blasters are a space-based group that attempt to blow apart the comets while they're still between the Moon and the Earth, and the Meteor Sweepers are ground-based forces that destroy any remnants that get through. Mikaze Honjou is a young MS trainee from a prestigious family of CBs, but she has no motivation or interest in the glamorous job- until her first scramble takes her into LEO and she's bitten hard by the space bug, turning her into one of the Academy's most dedicated students. Her burning desire to go into outer space gets complicated by data brought back by her flight recorder log, and she's plunged into the middle of what could be more than a simple conspiracy, and even some of her comrades are suspect. Aside from the onsen episode, most of the fanservice comes from the obligatory form-fitting uniforms and the skimpy Chinese dresses Mikaze and her team wear while at their part-time job. Kinda "The Right Stuff-y", though the ending seems to get wrapped up much simpler than the build-up would suggest. I could have done without the Admiral/Alice-centered episode. I blame you, Menchi. | |
